| WSM-ERF Quip FAQ
What is WSM-ERF Quip?
The Washington State Medical Education and Research Foundation
is sponsoring a quality improvement program, Quip, involving
primary care in Washington state. The project will create
reports on physician performance as well as actionable patient
registries related to chronic and preventive care.
Which health plans are participating
in Quip?
The goal is to eventually have all public and private health
plans in Washington state participate in the project.
What will it cost me to get this
information?
There will be no cost to physician practices to obtain the
reports or the populated patient registries.
How can Quip be free?
WSM-ERF is sponsoring the clinical tools with a $1 million
grant from The Physicians Foundation for Health Systems Excellence.
What happens to this program when
the grant funding ends?
As Quip advances, WSM-ERF will produce a business model to
support new sources of funding for the program.
How can Quip help my practice save
time and money?
Clinical patient registry tools provided by the WSM-ERF program
will help primary care physicians track care for their patients
with chronic illnesses and those in need of preventive services.
Physician practices will not have to obtain, populate and
maintain their own registries. However, if desired, the data
will be able to be downloaded to other registries maintained
by the practice.
What types of information will be
provided by Quip?
WSM-ERF will work with local health plans to use medical and
pharmacy claims data to develop a single report for each physician.
This report will provide information to the physician about
his/her performance as compared to best practice. Organized
in an easy-to-use registry format, the information will also
identify all of a physician’s patients, including those
in need of preventive and chronic care services.
Why did WSM-ERF Partner with OneHealthPort?
OneHealthPort's secure single password makes it easy for physicians
to access the Quip reports and other community sites. OneHealthPort
has a broad subscriber base that can access web casts, newsletters
and the OneHealthPort website. OneHealthPort will help WSM-ERF
promote Quip and keep subscribers informed as updates and
enhancements become available. Our goal is to gain widespread
usage and adoption of Quip among all primary care physicians
throughout the state.
UPDATED What is the process of accessing
Quip reports through OneHealthPort?
First, primary care physicians will need to be registered OneHealthPort users, with their own individual secure IDs. Many physician practices are already registered with OneHealthPort. In this case, the OneHealthPort administrator in the office can "nominate" each physician for a secure ID. Physicians will receive a secure ID with instructions for how to activate their accounts.
If an office has not yet registered with OneHealthPort, a designated individual can simply log on to www.onehealthport.com and follow the registration instructions. Registering with OneHealthPort is free of charge.
When registering physicians for the OneHealthPort ID, it is important to make sure that the role of Licensed Practitioner is chosen. Other roles may be chosen in addition as needed.
Next, NPI information must be shared. Log-on to www.onehealthport.com and click on Northwest NPI Service. Follow the steps to share practitioners’ NPI numbers and demographics. This will allow Quip to use these numbers to create reports.
Once each practitioner has a OneHealthPort secure ID and you have shared NPI information via the Northwest NPI Service, an authorized OneHealthPort subscriber in the office will need to give Quip permission to build the individual reports. Go to the OneHealthPort website and click on Quip. At the Quip site, you will be asked to accept an agreement giving WSM-ERF permission to access patient claims information from all available sources and each physician's specific report will be created. As soon as reports are available, each practitioner's OneHealthPort secure ID can be used to view his or her report.
NEW How do I assign the role of "Licensed Practitioner" to a physician's OneHealthPort secure ID?
If you are the OneHealthPort administrator for your office and you are nominating the physician as a new OneHealthPort user, select the Licensed Practitioner role during the nomination process (each physician can have a number of different roles, but will need to have this role to receive Quip reports).
If the physician has a OneHealthPort secure ID but does not have the required role, the administrator may add the role by going to saml.onehealthport.com/TACS-AG/adminLogin.do, selecting the "Manage Subscriber" option and then entering the user's secure ID or subscriber ID. Once the subscriber name displays, select the "Modify Subscriber Affiliations and Roles" to add the new role for that user.
NEW If a physician already has a OneHealthPort secure ID, how do I know if they have already been assigned the role of "Licensed Practitioner"?
If the physician already has his or her own OneHealthPort secure ID, he or she can verify that the login has a "Licensed Practitioner" role. To do this, the physician can go to www.onehealthport.com/use_ohp/support.php and select "Test Your OHP Login". Once the secure ID and password are entered, the assigned roles will be displayed.
How often will new data be available
to assist Primary Care practices and their patients?
Participating health plans will provide new data each quarter.
New health plans may be added at any time as a new data source.
The OneHealthPort website will offer reminders when new data
is available.
What do I do if I am assigned patients
that are not my routine patients?
From time to time, a patient may be mistakenly assigned to
a physician that does not agree with that patient’s
assignment. Quip reports will offer e-forms for reporting
patients attributed incorrectly to your practice to assist
in re-assigning the patient data to another provider. Your
help in identifying the patient will also assist in fine-tuning
the Quip attribution process. |
