FAQ for the CAQH Transition

Overview

  • OneHealthPort is the state’s Lead Organization for Administrative Simplification and has been engaged in a process to consider future vendors for the ongoing credentialing activities required by RCW 48.43.750(1)(a) and convened a credentialing working group.
  • The Office of the Insurance Commissioner (OIC) has authorized the use of other vendors or other methods through a waiver process and tasked the working group with recommending a long-term solution for WA State credentialing.
  • The working group, represented by health plans, providers, and Associations, recommended CAQH as the new credentialing vendor for WA State starting in 2024.
  • We encourage you to begin your transition to CAQH. Please see the FAQ for more information.

FAQ for Providers & Credentialing Staff

What is changing?

  • CAQH has been chosen as the vendor that health plans, providers, and credentialing staff use as the database for WA State credentialing starting in 2024.

Will I still have access to my ProviderSource data via OneHealthPort?

  • On December 31, 2023, at 4 p.m., access to ProviderSource via OneHealthPort was disabled.

How do I log in to CAQH?

  • You will register directly with CAQH. Your OneHealthPort Single Sign-On Subscriber ID and password will not work for CAQH access.
  • You can go to: https://proview.caqh.org/Login?Type=PR to set up a new account. Under “First Time Here?” at the bottom right corner of the page, click “Register Here” to begin the registration process.
  • Note: If you are unsure if you have an account with CAQH, please contact them before registering to avoid creating duplicate accounts.

Do I still need my OneHealthPort Single Sign-On Subscriber ID and password?

  • If you only use your OneHealthPort Single Sign-On Subscriber ID to access ProviderSource, you will not need your OneHealthPort account after December 31, 2023. Your Administrator can remove you from your Organization’s OneHealthPort account.
  • If you use your OneHealthPort Single Sign-On Subscriber ID to access payer portals for things like eligibility, benefits, claims or prior authorization, you will still need your Single Sign-On Subscriber ID to access participating payer portals.

Will all health plans be able to access my application through CAQH on January 1, 2024?

  • Most health plans already have access to applications through CAQH, and others are beginning the contracting and implementation process as a result of the working group decision.
  • You will find a list of the health plans and how they accept applications through the transition period here: Support & Communications | OneHealthPort.

I completed my CAQH application, but a health plan is telling me they cannot access my information. Why is that?

  • Once you have completed an application, you must identify the health plans who can access your application. If you have not granted access to a health plan, they cannot retrieve your application.
  • For more information please contact CAQH.

FAQ for Health Plans

What is changing?

  • CAQH has been chosen as the vendor that health plans, providers, and credentialing staff use as the database for WA State credentialing starting in 2024.
  • In addition, Health Plans will contract directly with CAQH.

Is my organization required to use Medversant or CAQH?

  • The Office of the Insurance Commissioner (OIC) has authorized the use of CAQH or an alternative vendor through February 29, 2024.
  • If you choose to use Medversant, please be advised that you will be responsible for negotiating terms directly with Medversant if you use the system after December 31, 2023.
  • Link to OIC notice

Note: CAQH is not being selected as a Credentialing Verification Organization (CVO) vendor, but rather as the database for submitting and retrieving provider credentialing applications as called out in the legislation.

Can I use Medversant to pull provider applications after December 31, 2023?

  • Since OneHealthPort will not have a master contract with Medversant in 2024, health plans will be responsible for negotiating terms directly with Medversant if you use the system after December 31, 2023.

How do I contract with CAQH?

All health plan organizations looking to develop an agreement with CAQH to access provider applications from the CAQH system can reach out to Warren Chang via email: wchang@caqh.org.

How will providers know how I am accepting applications during the transition?

You will find a list of the health plan information on our site. Please notify OneHealthPort how you are accepting applications during the transition so we can update the health plan list on our website. Click here to access the list on our website to see your current messaging.
